How to Know that You know God
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
God's Word tells us that He is right at the door knocking (Revelation 3:20). If you can hear that voice, He invites you to come as you are and open that door. No matter what you've heard, said, or done, you can know God – and that truth will set you free (John 8:32). If you are ready to take that step, then the following will help you understand this decision and what it means to know God.
Without God We Are All in Sin
"There is no one righteous, not even one" Romans 3:10
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
Our Condition in Sin Will Eventually Lead to Death
"just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned" Romans 5:12
"For the wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23a
But Because God Loves You, He Has Offered You a Free Gift
"but God show His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8
"but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23b
Our Response to this Gift is Crucial - We Must Receive It
"that is you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation" Romans 10:9-10
If You Have Done That - God's Word Says You're Saved!
God’s Word also shows us that one of the first things a believer does after this amazing moment is being baptized in obedience to Jesus' last command before going to prepare a place for us:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
